HOW THE CINEMA CLUB WORKS
Someone suggests (on the WhatsApp Group) a film that is currently showing at the Vue Stratford, South Woodford Odeon, or another cinema that can be easily reached on public transport (including London). They say a couple of lines about the film, and they must state:
- where it is on,
- the date,
- the time to meet,
- the start time of the film,
- the length of the film (run time)
- the meeting point.
Once the suggestion has been posted, then members should reply on WhatsApp. Members must be very clear if they intend to go to a specific film.
Once at least three or four people have confirmed they would like to attend, the person suggesting the film should go online and check availability. If there is a large cluster of empty seats together, they should book their seat within the cluster and state on the WhatsApp group which seat they have purchased. Other members can then go online and purchase adjacent seat.
If there is not a cluster of seats, then another date or time should be suggested.
If members want someone else to buy their tickets for them, this must be arranged outside of the whatsapp group. RV u3a cannot take responsibility for people not paying for booked seats.
TIMING OF FILMS
The timing of films should normally be in the afternoon when the cinemas are quiet, but people can suggest any time and see who is interested.
EXAMPLE OF POST
“I would like to see Bambi. It is a poignant animated classic that follows a young deer growing up in the forest, learning about love, loss, and survival. It is showing at the Vue Stratford on Tuesday 7 June 1942. I suggest we meet at 3:30 pm. The film starts at 3:50 pm and is 1 hour 15 minutes long. The meeting point would be the foyer (downstairs). We will purchase tickets when we arrive. Is anyone interested in joining me?”
